Angler caught a yellowmargin triggerfish in Seychelles
Angler fly fishing in Seychelles

Farquhar Atoll had its last week of fly fishing for the 2021-2022 season. This week, we had six anglers join us: Tuomas Eskelinen, William Kinney, David Moeller, Kent Cox, Jullian Grupp, and Tapani Henriksson.

As usual, various great species were caught throughout the group. Tuomas, who was a newcomer to the flats of the Seychelle,s ended up with four giant trevallies and a great yellowspot trevally. William landed decent giant trevally along with two monster yellowmargin triggerfish. David and Kent wrapped up a significant number of bonefish, with David landing the Holy Grail, a fantastic Into-Pacific permit. He sadly hooked and lost a bumphead parrotfish.

Tapani had one of those weeks where nothing seemed to stick. He had a great opportunity at a pair of giant GTs cruising the beach that ate his fly, but unfortunately, didnʼt get a hook set. He also had a permit to eat but was unable to find gums. He also lost seven bumpies. Julian, however, had an epic week. He landed two bumphead parrotfish and a couple of GTs, and to top that off, he also managed a permit.

Tight lines,
