Week two started with a bang. Everyone except two guests had spent some time on Cosmoledo over the past years. Matt and Mark Bielovich had their expectations about Cosmo, but only after their week could they actually comment on how large, diverse, and truly memorable a Cosmo trip really is.
Matt and Mark had daily interactions with multiple GTs, but the fish that made it most memorable was a 105 cm GT caught with Serge on the white sand flats. Week one of the Cosmoledo season produced a colossal fish of 141 cm and 181 GTs this week making a total of 200 GTs and multiple fish over 1 m, including 105, 106, 110, and 123 cm.
The weather and the conditions were almost too still and glassy, making it tough to see fish in the knee-to-waist-deep water that was experienced all week. Ray Cadiz once again stood out by catching multiple GTs and the only moustache triggerfish, which was 52 cm and a 64 cm permit.
Peter Steward managed a magical 106 cm GT and a few other quality fish. The angler of the week had to be Matt Ferry. Matt landed a 123 cm GT mid-week, and the very next day, and he landed a 94 cm GT and a 110 cm GT.
The milks showed up for a short time on the dropping tide. Unfortunately, only one fish was landed by Justin Kemp. A fish that does not often get a mention showed up in full force, and three anglers had the pleasure of landing them. The barracuda not often targeted here on the flats fell to the guests, and the guide’s knowledge, 114, 112, and 109 cm barracuda were landed in consecutive days.
Week three could throw some great results with big tides and fast-moving water: good memories and unforgettable moments taken home by all.
